Al-Miqdad: Israeli occupation’s attacks and its threat to wipe Gaza out of existence are doomed to failure

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, confirmed that what is happening in occupied Palestine today is the result of decades of colonial settlement occupation and aggressive practices, and that the Palestinian people are exercising their legitimate right to defend themselves and to resist the occupation’s attempts to deprive them of their rights. He pointed out that the occupation’s practices and its threat to wipe Gaza out of existence and expand its crimes in the region is doomed to failure, and the Arabs today have a duty and responsibility to provide support to the Palestinian people.

Al-Miqdad said in Syria’s statement during the emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level at its headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday: Syria welcomes the holding of this extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level to discuss Arab and international action to confront the fascist crimes and massacres that the Israeli occupation is relentlessly committing in Gaza with declared and blatant support from the West, primarily the United States of America, which mobilized its aircraft carriers, fleets and army with the declared goal of eliminating all the dreams and aspirations of the Palestinian people who have been patient and endured 75 years of displacement and expulsion from their land on which they have lived for thousands of years.

Al-Miqdad noted that recent days have revealed the falsity, lying, and hypocrisy of the West’s collective claims regarding human rights and international humanitarian law. He clarified that the Arabs have disagreed over what is known as the “peace process” since 1991 which is nothing   but a mirage, as all our Arab countries are targeted by the unity of their land and people, and the Western support has become no longer ashamed of supporting Zionist terrorist gangs and Israeli extremists.

Al-Miqdad wondered: which Arab country does not suffer as a result of the West’s collective interference in its internal affairs, and in the lives of its people, its economy, its beliefs, and its moral values? Now they want to convince us and our friends in the world that the structural defect is within us, and that we must abandon our customs, traditions, and rights until the Israelis are satisfied with us and our regimes, and when the West loses its colonies in Africa, Asia and Latin America, the responsibility falls on the Arabs.

Al-Miqdad said: We now live in a world that is changing profoundly, and the new world will ensure the building of an international order based on multi-polarity, and does not accept hegemony, including the domination of “Israel,” over our region. The West wants to convince us that we, the Arabs, are the cause of instability in the region and the world, but the “Israelis” cannot continue with their racist policies that have expelled the Palestinians from their homes since 1948 without any justification, based on myths that are proven false every day.

Al-Miqdad asserted that terrorists supported by the Israeli occupation launched an attack a week ago that resulted in hundreds of casualties in the city of Homs. The Israeli occupation also a day later attacked our people in Gaza, including children and women, It destroyed buildings on the heads of their residents and cut off water, medicine, electricity, fuel and all life supplies in the “Gaza Strip ghetto” imposed by the occupation, while no one in the West tells them to stop.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates referred to the United States’ support of the Israeli occupation because it is facing elections whose leaders need the votes and money of the Zionist extremists and money owners who are hostile to the hopes and aspirations of the people. He added that those in the West who are cutting off aid to the Palestinian and Arab people and all those who aspire to a world of democracy in international relations are accomplices in the crime.

Al-Miqdad pointed out that the Israeli occupation government and those who support it’s disregard for international laws, human values, and the rule-based world that they demand, and its insistence on racist practices and ethnic cleansing, aim to break the will of the Palestinian people, obliterate their right to exist, and put them before the choice of death or forced departure from their land for the benefit of the inhumane settler colonialism.

Al-Miqdad reiterated Syria’s full support for the Palestinian people, who today exercise their legitimate right to defend themselves by various means, and to resist decades of attempts to deprive them of their inalienable rights to self-determination and to establish their independent state over their entire occupied land, with Jerusalem as its capital, and to exercise their right to return in implementation of the relevant United Nations resolutions. What is happening today in the occupied Palestinian territory comes as a result of decades of colonial settlement occupation and its aggressive and expansionist policies to undermine the horizon of peace.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said: We and the Palestinian people in Gaza have right and dignity, so the Arabs have tried all methods to regain their rights in Palestine, the occupied Syrian Golan and southern Lebanon, and we found it in the end. The rights of the Palestinian people are being undermined every day, and rights can only be restored by resisting racial prejudice and the arrogance of the Israeli occupation. All of this requires the international community to assume its political, legal and moral responsibilities to provide protection for the Palestinian people, put an end to Israeli massacres and crimes, and hold its perpetrator accountable away from political hypocrisy and exposed double standards in dealing with international crises.

Al-Miqdad stressed that the Israeli occupation must be aware that the practices of its right wing extremist government, its repressive measures against the Palestinian people, its threat to remove Gaza from existence, and the expansion of its crimes in the region are doomed to failure. The Arabs today have a duty and responsibility to provide support in its various forms for the Palestinian people in their resistance to the occupation and in their struggle for their legitimate national rights. He underlined the urgency to come up with decisions at the conclusion of this meeting that rise to the level of the challenges and contribute to confronting the barbaric Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, whose continuation threatens to cause a large-scale humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, the region and the world.
