TEHRAN, Jul.20, (ST)- Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Faisal Al-Miqdad, discussed with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdollahian in Tehran the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the ways of developing them in all fields, in addition to the regional and international developments of common interest.
Abdullahian spoke about the results of the summit of the guarantor states of the Astana process (Russia, Iran and Turkey) held yesterday in Tehran, and the bilateral meetings held on the sidelines.
He also referred to the summit’s final statement, which stressed adherence to the unity, sovereignty and independence of Syria and rejection of all attempts to harm it, with an emphasis on moving forward in the fight against terrorism, the implementation of agreements related to the de-escalation zones and condemning the Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and calling for their cessation.
Abdullahian talked about the clear and explicit position of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ali Khamenei, in rejecting any military operation against the unity and integrity of the Syrian territories, and his tremarks that such an operation would harm the interests of Syria and Turkey, destabilize security and stability in the region and serve the terrorists. He also referred to the efforts made by President Ibrahim Raisi during the summit.
For his part, Al-Miqdad showed appreciation for the decisive positions announced by Mr. Khamenei and President Raisi regarding the developments in Syria and for the great support provided by Iran to Syria in all fields, stressing that Syria will continue to do its utmost to end the occupation and combat terrorism and work to facilitate and encourage the return of the displaced to their houses and villages .
He stressed the importance of going ahead with developing bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the economic and trade fields for the interest of the two friendly peoples.
