Al-Miqdad discusses with the delegation of the International Organization for Migration means to activate its work in Syria
Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad received on Wednesday the delegation of the International Organization for Migration headed by Egino Ambrosi and the accompanying delegation. They discussed the tasks entrusted to the organization and means to activate its role and work in Syria.
Minister Al-Miqdad explained the tasks undertaken by the Syrian state to secure the basic needs of the Syrian citizens. He talked in particular about the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures on all aspects of daily life and basic services for the Syrian citizen.
Al-Miqdad also talked on creating the appropriate conditions to encourage refugees to return to their homes and cities.
Minister Miqdad stressed the priority of ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches its beneficiaries ,adherence to the principles of humanitarian work, and avoiding the politicization practiced by Western countries in this context.
For his part, Ambrosi expressed his aspiration to revive and activate cooperation between the International Organization for Migration and the Syrian government, especially within the framework of the organization’s accession to the United Nations umbrella. He stressed the organization’s intention to maintain an atmosphere of mutual trust and cooperation.
