On March 20th, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad met with his Omani counterpart Badr Al-Bu Saidi during his visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
Both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, consult and exchange views on the most important issues and changes in the region and the world.
Minister Albu Saidi expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s stance towards Syria and the importance of preserving Syria’s, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that the solution to the crisis in Syria should be Syrian.
Minister Al-Miqdad started his activities in the Sultanate by visiting the National Museum of Oman, where he inspected the manuscript “The Book of Benefits in Knowledge about the Science of the Sea and the Rules” by the Omani navigator Shihab al-Din Ahmad bin Majid al-Saadi.
The Book was loaned from Assad Library in the Syrian Arab Republic to the National Museum in Muscat.
Minister Al-Miqdad and the accompanying delegation also inspected the collection of finds and artifacts that had previously been demolished by terrorism and were restored in the Sultanate in preparation for holding a cultural exhibition of Syrian antiquities later.
Minister Al-Miqdad noted the existing cooperation between the National Museum of Oman and the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums in Syria.
Minister Al-Miqdad met with a group of Omani political, diplomatic and media personalities in a dialogue session that dealt with the most important issues of common interest at the bilateral, regional and international levels.
Dr. Al-Miqdad arrived on March 19th’s evening in Muscat on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, where he and the accompanying delegation were received by a number of senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Sultanate, the Syrian ambassador in Muscat, Dr. Bassam Al-Khatib, and members of the embassy.
