Al-Miqdad discusses with foreign ministers of India, Armenia and the Maldives development of bilateral relations

During their meeting on the sidelines of the 77th  session of the United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad and his Indian counterpart, Subramaniam Jaishankar, stressed the importance of developing cooperation and friendship relations between the two friendly countries.

Minister Al-Miqdad expressed Syria’s appreciation for India’s supportive stances and assistance, while the Indian minister affirmed his country’s continued support and standing by Syria.

The two ministers agreed to continue meetings and coordination between the two sides.

Minister Al-Miqdad also met with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and reviewed the latest developments in the two countries, stressing the depth of the friendly relations and the historical ties that unite the two countries’ friendly people.

The two ministers stressed the need to upgrade and develop bilateral relations to serve the interests of both countries.

Al-Miqdad expressed Syria’s thanks and appreciation for the assistance provided by Armenia to it in the field of demining.

Minister Al-Miqdad also met with Maldives Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid, where the two ministers expressed the need to open up prospects for cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Shahid pointed out that dialogue and common understanding is the right way to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing the United Nations and its member states.

For his part, Al-Miqdad praised the success of Minister Shahid during his presidency of the previous session of the General Assembly in managing its work and dealing with the difficult issues faced by the international organization.
