Al-Miqdad discusses with Ashuba the strengthening of parliamentary relations between Syria and Abkhazia

Sukhum (ST): Foreign and Expatriates Minister  Dr. Faisal Miqdad discussed with the Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Republic of Abkhazia Lasha Ashuba bilateral relations and the development of parliamentary cooperation between Syria and Abkhazia and conveyed warm congratulations of the Syrian leadership and the Syrian People’s Assembly to the Abkhaz people on the occasion of Independence Day.

Minister Miqdad indicated that the Abkhaz people did not get to this day in an ordinary way, but rather paid blood to achieve their independence and that the relations between the peoples of the two countries do not go back to the history of Syria’s recognition of Abkhazia’s independence, but rather are relations rooted in history and built on solid foundations of principles rejecting the policies of hegemony, colonialism, interfering in the internal affairs of states and violating their sovereignty.

Minister Miqdad gave a presentation on the situation in Syria, pointing out that Syria’s legendary steadfastness in fighting terrorism and its supporters came through the Syrian people and their army’s rallying around its leader.

Dr. Miqdad stressed that Syria is continuing to restore stability, end the occupation and the illegal military presence of foreign forces, and defeat terrorism with the help of friendly countries and allies.

In turn, Ashuba expressed the Abkhaz people’s happiness with the presence of the Syrian delegation on Abkhazia’s Independence Day, stressing the Abkhaz people’s support for the Syrian people and their leadership, expressing his confidence that Syria will be able to restore stability and eliminate terrorism.

Minister Miqdad also met with the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Relations and Communication with the Diaspora in the Abkhaz People’s Assembly Khas Bartsys and pointed out that the formation of the Syrian-Abkhazian Joint Parliamentary Friendship Committee came as an embodiment of the desire of the two countries, the two peoples and the People’s Assembly to strengthen bilateral relations and create new horizons for cooperation in all fields.
