Al-Miqdad discusses with Al-Safadi bilateral relations and efforts made to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria

Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, discussed with the Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, the efforts made to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria that preserves the unity and integrity of its lands, respects its sovereignty, rids it of terrorism. In addition to providing the necessary conditions for the dignified and voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their country.

This came ahead of the preparatory meeting of the Arab Foreign ministers for the Arab League Council at the summit level, which is hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The two ministers stressed the importance of the role of the Arab ministerial Liaison Committee concerned with Syria within the efforts made in the context of the Arab track to reach a solution to the crisis in Syria.

The two ministers also discussed a group of bilateral issues, including border security and combating drug smuggling. They also reviewed the results of communications conducted by the relevant authorities in the two countries to stop smuggling operations and eliminate the danger they pose.

The two ministers affirmed their mutual keenness to continue consultation, coordination, and develop cooperation relations, which will reflect positively on the two brotherly countries.

During the meeting, they discussed ongoing efforts to stop the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and its disastrous humanitarian repercussions.

The two ministers also discussed the agenda of the Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting and ways to enhance coordination and cooperation regarding priority issues, most notably the Palestinian issue, and achieving security and stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by Bassam Sabbagh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Habib Abbas, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Hossam Al-Din Aala, the permanent representative of Syria to the League of Arab States.
