Al-Miqdad confirms that Syrian diplomacy succeeded in defending just causes of Syria and Arab nation
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, affirmed that Syrian diplomacy has succeeded over decades in establishing its position as a continuous institution that does not hesitate to defend the just causes of Syria, the Arab nation and the free people of the world. He pointed out that the desperate attempts of Syria’s enemies have not succeeded in excluding this diplomacy or closing the doors to it, whether at the Arab, regional or international levels.
In a speech during a ceremony honoring former Syrian ambassadors, which was held by the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Al-Miqdad noted that the former and current Syrian diplomats are believers and defenders of the well-established and honorable principles of Syria’s foreign policy based on defending its territorial integrity, identity, independence and the sovereignty of its national decision.
Minister Al-Miqdad stressed that Syrian diplomats continue to seek to implement the directives of the political leadership by extending bridges of friendship, cooperation and coordination with brothers and friends who share Syria’s respect and preservation of the principles of freedom, independence, peace and the right of peoples to self-determination. They continue their efforts in the field of caring for the Syrian expatriate communities in various parts of the world and work to enhance the communication of the Syrians and their genuine sense of belonging to their homeland, Syria.
Minister Al-Miqdad pointed to the important and dangerous challenges that the former diplomats faced over the past decades and the exceptional circumstances that refined their experiences and expertise and strengthened the status of this prestigious diplomatic institution. These challenges proved that the Syrian diplomats are high in their morals, experience, steadfastness and determination to uphold the truth and defend lofty principles in international relations and their fateful causes.
Minister Al-Miqdad talked about the challenges of recent years, foremost of which is the economic siege and the terrorist war on Syria, which was based on a losing and short-sighted bet by some in the West and the region that Syria, like others, will be shaken and surrender and change its identity, affiliation, principles and decisions under the pressure of terrorism, aggression and political and economic siege .
Minister Al-Miqdad addressed the young diplomats who chose this honorable profession by saying that “the secret of the success of Syrian diplomacy over the past decades has been and will remain linked to the principle and integrity of Syrian foreign policy, clarity of vision of the leadership of this country, pragmatism, flexibility and belief that it deserves from us to be competent, honest, and rightful, honorable and dignified.”
Minister Al-Miqdad called on diplomats to enhance their experiences and expertise and to always remember that Syria has a secure political leadership with a powerful vision that has successfully dealt with various challenges and is still working with the same wisdom and patience to overcome many national, regional and international challenges.
In conclusion, Al-Miqdad indicated that this honoring ceremony will become a well-established and continuous institutional habit that reflects the ministry’s belief in the right of everyone who has devoted themselves to serving their country to be honored and to remain present in the living memory of Syrian diplomacy. He stressed that the diplomats will remain part of a large army that has withstood and will withstand whatever challenges, thanks to the wisdom of the leadership and the cohesion of the ancient national institutions, foremost of which are the valiant armed forces that confront the occupier, the aggressor, the terrorists and their supporters.
For his part, the Director of the Diplomatic Institute, Dr. Imad Mustafa, stressed that the former Syrian diplomats are a brilliant elite who had the honor of representing Syria in various countries of the world and defended the nation’s dignity.
The former ambassador and diplomat, Ali Al-Madani, indicated on behalf of the former diplomats that this initiative from the Diplomatic Institute provided the opportunity to honor the ambassadors who served their country with honor and sincerity.
Former Ambassador Suleiman Haddad underlined the importance of the initiative to honor the ambassadors, because it reflects loyalty and love.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam, members of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Dr. Mahdi Dakhlallah, Dr. Mohsen Bilal and Hoda Al-Homsi, Minister of Information Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, and Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Ayman Susan and a large number of former and current diplomats and ambassadors.
