Al-Miqdad and Al-Hamdani assert the need for preserving the rights of Syria and Iraq in water

DAMASCUS, Feb.3, (ST)-The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad discussed on Thursday with the Iraqi Minister of Water Resources Mahdi Rashed Al-Hamdani the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, especially in the field of water resources. 
 
The two sides’ viewpoints were identical regarding the need for preserving the rights of the two countries in water, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
 
The agency added that the two sides agreed on enhancing consultation and cooperation for the interest of the Syrian and Iraqi peoples. 
 
Al-Miqdad asserted -during the meeting- the importance of the joint Arab action, especially in the light of the circumstances the region is going through to achieve the Arab Water Security. 
 
He also talked about the key role of The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) in enhancing the joint Arab action. 
 
For his part, the Iraqi minister spoke about the importance of boosting cooperation in all fields and thanked Syria for supporting Iraq in the field of enhancing water resources . 
 
He underscored the need for supporting agriculture as a wide group of the two countries’ peoples depends on it in the light of climate changes, which  the region witnesses. 
 
 Al-Hamdani affirmed Iraq’s adherence to support Syria in fighting the terrorist war imposed on it and in respecting Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity. 
 
The two sides in addition reviewed the hostile projects that try to threaten  the  region with the aim of pressing Arab countries to serve well-known foreign agendas.
