Al-Miqdad and Abdullahian: Continuing coordination and consultation between Syria and Iran to confront Western policies targeting the two countries

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, the latest developments in the region.

The two ministers also discussed a number of aspects related to bilateral relations and ways to develop them in all fields, especially in the face of the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures imposed on their countries by the United States and other Western countries, stressing that these relations are strategic, strong and distinct, and serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

Al-Miqdad and Abdullahian highlighted the level of coordination and consultation existing between Syria and Iran in various fields and in international forums, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation to confront Western policies targeting the two countries.

The two ministers indicated their support for the Astana formula, which could contribute to achieving more stability and security in Syria. They agreed on the necessity of continuing the fight against terrorism in Syria until its final elimination.

Abdullahian reiterated his country’s continued support for Syria politically and economically and in the field of combating terrorism. Al-Miqdad expressed Syria’s support for the Iranian position on the nuclear file, blaming the United States for its obstruction of reaching an agreement so far.
