Al-Miqdad, Abdollahian discuss issues of common interest

DAMASCUS, April.21, (ST)-The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad discussed this afternoon in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian the bilateral relations and issues of common interest. 
 
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the two ministers discussed holding the meetings of the Joint Higher Economic Committee, highly appreciating the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in confronting the Israeli criminal attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque. 
 
They asserted that Syria and Iran stand by the Palestinian people.  
AL-Miqdad affirmed that the relations between Syria and Iran are always moving forward, referring to the necessity of reactivating the Syrian- Iranian economic cooperation to overcome the impacts of the coercive economic measures imposed on the peoples of the two countries. 
 
He described the relations between Damascus and Tehran as “ historic and strategic” and important not only for the interests of the two counties and friendly peoples but also for ensuring the stability and security of the region. 
 
Al-Miqdad in addition stressed Syria’s support for the Iranian stance as regards the nuclear file, blaming the United States for not signing the nuclear deal so far. 
 
For his part,  Abdollahian expressed his aspiration for working with the Syrian side to strengthen the cooperation’s between  the two countries in all fields and to cement the relations between the Syrian and Iranian peoples.
 
He also underlined the importance of reaching a real commercial and economic partnership, reiterating Iran’s support for Syria and its people and its readiness to offer the necessary help to overcome the negative impacts of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the western countries.
    
Moreover, Abdollahian talked about the recent developments related to negotiations in Vienna over the Iranian nuclear file and the obstacles put by the US in front of implementing the joint comprehensive work plan.
