Al-Mikdad: Washington and its puppets repeat their lies about Syria

Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Mikdad, affirmed that the United States and its puppets  in France, Britain and Germany are practicing today in Syria the same play and the same lies that they practiced in Iraq 20 years ago under the pretext of possessing weapons of mass destruction. He stressed the need for the world to learn from the lessons of the past, and not allow these countries by misleading again to target other countries and undermine their security and stability.

Al-Mikdad said in a statement on Sunday, quoted by the ministry on its Twitter page: 20 years ago, on this day, and close to the Syrian seat on which I was sitting in the Security Council, Colin Powell, then US Secretary of State, sat in front of the council  starring in a play of deception prepared in advance to justify the invasion of Iraq. The US attacked Iraq under the pretext of possessing chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction, and Powell presented at that time (audio recordings), (satellite images), (eyewitness accounts) and (documents), and confirmed that they are evidence, not guesses, and these are facts and well-documented information.

Powell added that everything I say today is supported by strong sources. These are not just sayings that we confirm. What we present to you are facts and conclusions based on reliable intelligence. Powell then raised a small tube with his hand, claiming that it contains a biological substance produced by Iraq that can kill tens of thousands of people.

Al-Mikdad added that of course, it became clear to everyone that all of this was just baseless lies.In the end  Powell himself described what he said before the Security Council as a “disgrace.”

“Unfortunately, Iraq was invaded on the basis of these lies, and everyone knows the disastrous results that it left behind this invasion and war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the American forces and their allies in Iraq”, Al-Mikdad added.

Al-Miqdad said that what is happening today is similar to what happened   yesterday – the same theatrics, the same lies, and the same mastermind. However  this time the target is Syria and the   pretext is similar to that of Iraq,s , which is its possession and use of chemical weapons!!The  world should learn from the lessons of the past. “The world should not allow the United States and its agents in France , Britain and Germany to play the misleading game again and pass on their flimsy allegations to justify interference in the affairs of other countries and undermine security, stability and prosperity in them”, Al-Mikdad concluded.
