DAMASCUS, (ST)-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad has underscored the importance of the unity of Arab-African stances to confront colonial ambitions that threaten the present and future of Arab and African peoples.

The Syrian diplomacy attaches great importance to its relation with African countries as Arab and African peoples face the same fate represented in confronting western countries’ attempts to return to their areas of influence in the two regions, al-Mikdad told the delegations participating in the Arab-African Youths Council’s meeting on Saturday.

Al-Mikdad also briefed the delegations on the recent political and military developments in Syria, pointing out that the main cause of the terror war on Syria is its firm stances towards Arab causes, particularly the Palestinian cause.

He praised the role of Arab and African youths in the current era, clarifying that diplomacy plays a key role in the political process that aims to reach solution to the crisis in Syria.

On his part, leader of the delegation Awadallah al-Hussein asserted the need to mobilize Arab-African support for Syria in the face of takfiri terrorism and extremism.

Youths in Arab and African countries stand by the struggle of the Syrian people, who are fighting terrorism on behalf of world’s peoples, the delegation’s leader and members said, affirming their support for Syrian Arab army and allied forces in fighting terrorism.
