Al-Mikdad: Syrian government ready to facilitate work of UN organizations seeking to provide humanitarian aid to citizens affected by the earthquake
On February 6th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Mikdad, held a meeting for representatives of United Nations organizations and offices operating in Syria as well as the non-governmental organizations.
He briefed them on the governmental measures that were taken under the directives of President Bashar Al-Assad to directly confront the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that struck Syria today.
He affirmed the Syrian government’s readiness to provide all the required facilitations to the international organizations to help them provide humanitarian aid that meet the basic needs of the Syrian citizens affected by this natural disaster.
He pointed to the impacts of unilateral sanctions that increase the repercussions of this tragic event.
In turn, the representatives of the international organizations expressed their deep condolences to the families of the victims, wishing speedy recovery to the injured.
They affirmed that from the first moments of the earthquake, they held several coordination meetings and communicated with leaders of their organizations, with the aim of securing the basic needs of the Syrians within the current difficult circumstances.
