ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad on Saturday started an official visit to Algeria to hold talks with the Algerian leadership on enhancing bilateral ties and strengthening joint coordination, and on latest developments in the Arab and international arenas.
Al-Mikdad was welcomed at the Houari Boumediene International Airport by the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf, the Syrian Ambassador in Algiers Numeir Ghanem, the Syrian Embassy staff and a number of directors at the Algerian foreign ministry.
In a statement to journalists upon his arrival, Al-Mikdad hailed the strong relations between Syria and Algeria.
The Algerian leadership has always supported Syria and consultations between the two sides never stopped, Al-Mikdad said, stressing the need to enhance relations with Algeria.
Visiting Algeria expresses the sincere feelings of the Syrian leadership towards this country, Al-Mikdad added, stressing that Algeria behaved like a friend to support Syria during the earthquake disaster.
The Syrian top diplomat stressed that the leaderships of the two countries have a sincere desire to boost cooperation in different fields.
“Algeria is playing an important role at all levels and Syria and Algeria have been fighting terrorism on behalf of the entire world”, Al-Mikdad said, stressing the two countries must work together to face the current challenges.
