Al-Mikdad Stresses Need to Enhance Syria-Nigeria Cooperation in Fighting Terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad has stressed the need to enhance cooperation between Syria and Nigeria in fighting terrorist Organizations like “Daesh”, “Jabhat al-Nusra”, “Boko Haram” and other foreign-backed terrorist groups.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the Nigerian Charge de Affairs in Damascus (Admo Ibrahim Lamowa) who presented his credentials to al-Mikdad on Monday. Talks during the meeting dealt with the importance of boosting political and economic ties between the two countries.

 Al-Mikdad expressed Syria’s condemnation of the criminal acts perpetrated by Boko Haram terror group in Nigeria.

On his part, the Nigerian diplomat said he is coming to Syria to explore ways of consolidating and deepening bilateral relations.

He condemned terrorist acts in Syria and affirmed the need to unify international efforts to eliminate terrorism and dry up its resources.

He voiced his country’s willingness to implement the agreements signed between the two countries on enhancing cooperation between the Syrian and Nigerian businessmen.
