Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad sent a message of condolence to Ali Bagheri Kani, the acting Iranian Foreign Minister, in which he expressed sadness and sorrow over the news of the demise of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and their companions, following the crash of the plane they were traveling on board, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
“I received with great sadness and sorrow the news of the death of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, and my brother and friend, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and their companions, following the crash of the plane they were onboard,” Mikdad said in the message.
He added “I extend to you, and through you, the leadership, government and people of the friendly Islamic Republic of Iran, and to families of the martyrs, my sincere condolences and sincere sympathy for this great loss.”
Mikdad said that Iran and the Islamic nation have lost two prominent leaders who devoted their lives to serving their country and nation, worked hard and sincerely to achieve stability and prosperity for the people of Iran, and contributed their sincere efforts to enhancing cooperation and solidarity between the two countries and peoples.
He expressed his confidence in Iran’s ability to overcome this ordeal and continue its pivotal role at the regional and international levels in boosting security and stability and supporting the just causes of the peoples.
