Al-Mikdad Reaffirms Syria’s Rejection of So-Called “Deal of the Century”

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad has condemned Israel’s crimes against the Palestinians in the occupied territories, describing Israel’s demolition of Palestinians’ houses in occupied al-Quds and other occupied areas as a war crime and a crime against humanity.

Al-Mikdad, who made the remarks during his meeting on Monday with Advisor of the Palestinian President for Religious Affairs Mahmoud al-Habbash, reaffirmed Syria’s rejection of the so-called “Deal of the Century” and of some Arab regimes’ attempts to promote this sinister scheme.

The deputy minister said that Syria, as a people and leadership, supports the Palestinian people in their struggle against the Israeli occupation.

He pointed out that the Israeli enemy, backed by the United States and some European countries and their tools in the region, is behind the ongoing terrorist aggression targeting Syria, Palestine and the Arab region.

Syria has faced a huge terrorist conspiracy over the past eight years. One of the goals of this conspiracy has been undermining the Palestinian cause, according to al-Mikdad.

He said that the Palestinian camps have always been the target of the Israeli enemy’s plots in order to give up the Palestinian refugees’ right of repatriation, referring to the Palestinian camps in Syria which were targeted by Israeli-backed terrorist groups.

Al-Habbash, on his part, asserted Palestine and the Palestinian people’s support for Syria under the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad. He pointed out that Syria has triumphed over the conspiracy thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian people, army and leadership.
