Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad on Wednesday met with Major General Nirmal Thapa, Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in the occupied Golan (UNDOF).
Al- Mikdad stressed the need to halt the Israeli occupation’s aggressive practices against the Syrian citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan and its repeated attacks on Syrian territories.
Syria supports the UN team in implementing its tasks in the Golan, calling on the UN to intervene as to stop the Israeli violations against the Syrian citizens in Golan and the Israeli attacks on Syria, Al-Mikdad said.
He added that the aggressive acts of the occupation and its violation of the international law poses a threat to the region’s security.
He reiterated Syria’s right to restore Golan to the line of June 4th, 1967 in accordance with the UN relevant resolutions.
For his part, Major General Thapa stressed UNDOF’s commitment to carrying out its mandate and observe the cease-fire line, appreciating Syria’s support in this regard.
