Al-Mikdad meets with Iranian FM Salehi

Tehran, (ST)- Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad, in a meeting with Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi here on Saturday, appreciated Iran’s efforts to end the crisis in Syria.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Mikdad presented a report on the latest diplomatic developments in Syria, including his recent visit to Moscow as well as with the UN Special Envoy for Syria affairs Mr. Lakhdar Brahimi .

He also praised Iran’s efforts, including the six-article plan to end the crisis in Syria and called it as sign of Iran’s endeavor for Muslim and regional problems and indicator of Tehran’s role in stability and establishment of peace in the region, according to IRNA.

Salehi underlined Iran’s principled stances in support for Syrian government and people and stressed that taking decisions about Syrian future should be made by its own people and Iran condemns any kind of foreign interference in internal affairs of independent states, including Syria.

He added that considering Syrian government readiness for dialogue and political settlement of the crisis, those countries which are opposed to political solution and talk are responsible for continuation of the crisis.

Salehi expressed hope that with cooperation and constructive interaction between effective countries of the region, stability and tranquility could return to Syria.
