Al-Mikdad meets with Director General of West Asia and North Africa Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad on Monday met with Director General of the West Asia and North Africa Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Weng Di at the Ministry’s building in Damascus.
The two sides appreciated the important visit paid by President Bashar al-Assad to the People’s Republic of China and the important agreements reached between the leadership of the two countries, the most important of which is the declaration of strategic partnership. They stressed the necessity of following up and implementing everything that was agreed upon during that historic visit.
Al- Mikdad and Wang Di discussed the situation in Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories and the barbaric Israeli aggression against civilians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The Chinese official affirmed China’s firm stance on the Palestinian issue and its solidarity with the Palestinian people, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to save children, women and the wounded.
For his part, Al-Mikdad thanked China for supporting regional issues and for supporting Syria in the face of terrorism and other crises.
He also affirmed Syria’s firm position in support of the “One China” principle to preserve China’s territorial integrity, and asserted Syria’s support for China against all attempts of interference in its internal affairs.
