Al-Mikdad, Lavrov discuss exchanging support in international forums

On July 3rd, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al -Mikdad, discussed during a telephone conversation with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and various areas of cooperation, especially with regard to political consultation, coordination of positions and the exchange of support in the United Nations and international forums.

Al -Mikdad renewed Syria’s position in support for Russia in its special military operation in Donbas, and in the face of various attempts to undermine Russia’s national security and stability, praising the achievements of Russia in this regard.

Al-Mikdad also valued Russia’s position in support of Syria in the face of terrorism and various attempts to undermine its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

He reviewed developments of the situation in Syria and the region, and the results of recent consultations, expressing his satisfaction over the level of coordination and communication between the two countries in this field.

 In turn, Lavrov thanked Syria for its supportive position towards his country and the measures it Russia has taken to face the Western campaigns against it.

Lavrov said tgat Russia welcome the positive atmosphere in the Arab region and the resumption of Syria’s participation in the meetings of the League of Arab States.

He stressed Russia’s support for all efforts supporting the stability of the Arab region and for increasing cooperation between the region’s countries to face the common challenges.

The two sides agreed to continue communication and to coordinate positions on various issues of common concern.
