Al-Mikdad holds talks with foreign ministers of Nicaragua and Belarus, deputy foreign minister of Cuba.

Damascus (ST): On the second day of his participation in the Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of non-aligned countries, held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada Colinders.

The two sides reviewed prospects for enhancing cooperation and coordination among the Non-Aligned Movement countries, especially in the light of the threats they are exposed to.

Minister Al-Mikdad also discussed with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Sergey Allink the topics on the agenda of the Baku meeting, and regional and international developments. Views were agreed on the importance of continuing the struggle towards a more just and equal multipolar world.

The two ministers affirmed the determination of the two countries to continue strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.

In the same context, Al-Mikdad met with the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba Gerardo Peñalver.  The two sides stressed the need to adhere to the goals and principles of the Non-Aligned Movement and to strengthen solidarity among the countries of the movement now more than ever before, especially in the light of the growing global challenges.

The two sides also discussed aspects related to the science and technology summit of the Group of 77 and China, which will be held in September in the Cuban capital Havana and agreed to continue strengthening the distinguished bilateral relations and to continue coordination at international forums.
