Al-Mikdad holds open dialogue with Egyptian media

Cairo, (ST) – During his stay in Egypt, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government Faisal Mikdad held an open dialogue with a group of Egyptian journalists, thinkers and writers at the headquarters of the Syrian embassy in Cairo.

During the meeting, a wide range of issues related to Syria and the circumstances it faces were discussed, in addition to Syria’s stances towards developments in the region, most notably the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The meeting also touched on the Israeli attacks, the fight against terrorism and the impact of all of this on security and stability in the region.

Minister Al-Mikdad stressed Syria’s condemnation of the brutal war waged by the Israeli occupation entity against the Palestinian people, and the crimes of genocide it is committing against them.

He stressed the need to put an end to these crimes.

The dialogue also addressed development of Syria’s relations with Arab countries, especially the relationship with Egypt, in the light of Syria’s return to occupying its seat in the Arab League.

Minister Al-Mikdad provided clarifications and answers to the questions and interventions raised by media professionals and intellectuals, which covered many issues including facilitating the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons, improving the humanitarian and living conditions of Syrians.

He also provided clarifications about Syria’s permanent call for all its people to return to their homeland, and its efforts in this regard, also in cooperation with the United Nations.

The dialogue also focused on aspects of cooperation with the United Nations and international organizations, and the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Western countries on the Syrian people, which are the main obstacle to the return of refugees and displaced persons, and providing appropriate conditions for that.
