Al-Mikdad holds “Israel” responsible for the dangerous escalation in the region…Abdollahian says Syria is a major supporter of Palestine

Damascus- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad, during a press conference on Friday with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who is currently visiting Syria, held Israel responsible for the dangerous escalation in the region through its continued occupation of Arab land, its disregard for the rights of the Palestinian people, and its crimes and aggressive practices against them.

Al-Mikdad added that the Israeli occupation forces, since the beginning of this year until before the launching of the resistance “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood”, have killed hundreds of Palestinians, most of them children, and destroyed their homes above their heads. He went on to say that over the past months, the United States and the west have been supporting “Israel’s” policies of killing, destruction, apartheid, and settlement expansion, which makes them partners in the occupation’s crimes against the Palestinian people, stressing that no people in the world have suffered and endured more than the Palestinian people.

“We all support the decision taken by the Palestinian resistance to defend the right of the Palestinian people, and (Israel) and its supporters must not push towards any expansion of aggression in the region and towards continuous killing of Palestinians,” Al-Mikdad said.

He described the occupation’s crimes against the Palestinian people as war crimes and crimes against humanity, pointing out that the European countries and the United States prevent the Palestinian people’s access to food and medicine, and the occupation has destroyed dozens of hospitals, as the Nazis did in the World War.

Al-Mikdad pointed out that the occupation has targeted the Palestinians in Gaza Strip with weapons of mass destruction and has killed hundreds of children in the past few days alone.”

“The biggest insult the international humanitarian law has ever received was made during the last week through the Israeli nonstop attacks against the Palestinian people,” Al-Mikdad said, stressing Syria’s firm support for the Palestinian people until they liberate their land and establish their independent state.

“We declare it loud… We will always stand by the Palestinian people for the liberation of their land, for their sovereignty in their homeland, and for the establishment of a Palestinian state recognized by the international community, and we agree with Iran that what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories and the attack on the dignity and freedom of the Palestinian people is a crime against humanity,” Al-Mikdad said.

For his part, Abdollahian said that he held important talks with President Bashar Al-Assad on developments in Palestine and the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip which claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent people, including many children.

He said that Syria has always been in the forefront of the axis of resistance and it has played a main role in supporting Palestine.

He clarified that by bombing civilians, children and women in Gaza Strip and committing genocide against them, the Zionist entity is covering up its defeat against the Palestinian resistance, calling for stopping the war crimes being committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians, including women and children, before it is too late.

The Iranian minister pointed out that the Zionist entity and its supporters are committing genocide in Gaza Strip by continuing to cut off water and electricity and preventing the entry of food, medicine and fuel, reiterating that Gaza Strip needs urgent global support to lift the siege imposed by the Israeli occupation on it and to stop the war crimes being committed against the people there.
