Within his meetings in preparation for the 33rd Arab Summit in the Bahraini Capital, Manama, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad on Wednesday held talks with the Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and North Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
Al-Mikdad congratulated Bogdanov on the inauguration of President Vladimir Putin for a new term as President and on forming a new government in Russia.
He hailed the victories being achieved by the Russian Army in its special military operation in Donbas province.
Al-Mikdad also hailed the support provided by the Russian Federation to Arab issues in general and to Syria in particular and praisdd the Russian political support for the Palestinian issue at the Security Council.
For his part, Bogdanov stressed the strategic relationship between Syria and Russia and reiterated Russia’s firm support for Syria, and its keenness on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields.
He stressed the importance of holding the meeting of the Joint Syrian-Russian Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation between the two countries as soon as possible.
The two sides also discussed developments in the region and the world and the destructive role of the United States, France and other Western countries in various regions of the world with the aim of destabilizing security and stability there, stressing the need to stop this role.
Al–Mikdad, Abu Al-Gheit discuss developments in the Arab region
Earlier, Al-Mikdad met with Secretary-General the Arab League Ahmed Abu Al-Gheit and discussed with him developments in the Arab region, the challenges facing Arab countries, and the role being played by the Arab League to find solutions to these challenges.
The two sides stressed the importance of activating and strengthening joint Arab action to confront the challenges.
They focused on the need to exert utmost efforts as to confront the dangerous situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, and to pressure for an immediate stop of the mass killing, extermination war, displacement and starvation being practiced by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people.
They affirmed the need to immediately halt the Israeli aggression and ensure unconditional access to humanitarian aid.
