Al-Mikdad conveys a verbal message from President Al-Assad to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune

Algiers- Dr. Faisal Al-Mikdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, on Sunday conveyed a verbal message from President Bashar Al-Assad to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune congratulating him and the Algerian people on the coming of Eid Al-Fitr, and thanking the leadership, government and people of Algeria for their assistance to Syria during the earthquake’s plight and for their loving messages of solidarity and sympathy with the Syrian people.

Minister Al-Mikdad stressed President Al-Assad’s satisfaction over the development of relations between Syria and Algeria, his appreciation for Algeria’s support for Syria in its fight against terrorism at all Arab and international forums and platforms. He affirmdd the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries for the good of the two brotherly peoples.

For his part, President Tebboune asked Al-Mikdad to convey his sincere greetings to President Al-Assad, stressing his great happiness over the progress achieved in relations between the two countries and hailing Syria’s achievements in the fight against terrorism and its steadfastness in the face of conspiracies.

President Tebboune also expressed his satisfaction over the development of the situation in Syria and the breakthroughs in the region, particularly with regard to Arab-Arab relations, stressing that Algeria will always be on the side of Syria.

Minister Al-Mikdad briefed President Tebboune, the current President of the Arab Summit, on the outcomes of communications between Syria and a number of Arab States and friendly countries and on the political developments in the region and the world and Syria’ attitude towards them, including President Al-Assad’s emphasis on the importance of mobilizing the efforts of all Arab countries to defend their just causes. He stressed that the Syrian Arab Republic’s main concern now is to consolidate the efforts of the Arab States and improve Arab-Arab relations with the aim of supporting just Arab causes and rejecting foreign interference in the Arab countries’ internal affairs.

The Algerian President stated the importance of unifying Arab positions in the the confrontation of all the challenges facing the Arab States, and that Algeria’s position is firm as regards to defending the sovereignty and independence of all Arab States and the return of Arab-Arab relations to their previous level of mutual respect and raproachment and good cooperation relations which Algeria has been keen to support during its current presidency of the Arab Summit.

Following  the meeting, Al-Mikdad made a statement to journalists, reaffirming the importance of constantly strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as enhancing coordination and consultation in various fields and at all levels to address pressing issues bilaterally, regionally and internationally.

“Algeria, as President of the Arab Summit, has assumed great responsibilities and defended the rights of the Arab people everywhere. Algeria, its leadership and people stood by Syria in all the challenges it has experienced over the past period. We have been with Algeria in the “Black Decade” when we fought against terrorism together,  just as we previously fought against colonialism and against all the challenges Algeria has experienced.”
