Al-Maqt: The people of the occupied Syrian Golan will continue to struggle until Golan is liberated and returned to the homeland

The Dean of the liberated Syrian prisoners, Sidqi Al-Maqt, reiterated that our people in the occupied Syrian Golan will continue their resistance and struggle to confront the aggressive practices of the Israeli occupation until the Golan is entirely liberated and returned to the homeland, Syria.

In an interview with the Syrian Channel on the 40th anniversary of the illegal annexation decision, Al-Maqt stated that the occupied Golan is an integral part of Syria, and Golan people affirm every day their adherence to their land and their Syrian Arab identity, and that Golan will remain Arab and Syrian while all measures of the Israeli occupation are worthless, null and void.

Al-Maqt indicated that the people of the Golan rejected the occupation attempts to impose the “Israeli identity” upon them stressing that there is no alternative to the Syrian Arab identity. The  people of the Golan have  thwarted the Israeli “local council elections,” and burned the so-called “election cards.”  The Syrian citizens of Golan are confronting the occupation’s plans to build wind turbines on an area of approximately six thousand hectares of their land in a bid by the occupation to establish 12,000 new units in order to double the number of settlers in the Golan and change the demographic situation there. Golan Syrian citizens stressed that they will foil the occupation schemes as they did with the previous ones.

Al-Maqt affirmed that patriotism is deeply rooted in the people of the Golan and is becoming entrenched day by day as the Syrian citizens of the Golan pass their loyalty to the homeland from one generation to the next.

Al-Maqt saluted the Syrian people and the heroes of the Syrian Arab army and further stated that: “On the fortieth anniversary of the decision of the false annexation, we bow in reverence to the souls of the martyrs of the homeland and the martyrs of the Syrian Arab Army, and we pledge to the generation of pioneers who paved the way that we will go along with the path of steadfastness to confront the Israeli occupier until the liberation of the entire Golan through the efforts of the heroes of the Syrian Arab army. The Syrian people are marching with their victories over the remaining terrorists who are supported by the Israeli enemy and by regional regimes as well as Western countries.
