The prisoner Abu Hamid was martyred this morning after a long suffering with lung cancer, exacerbated by the occupation authorities’ refusal to transfer him to a hospital in the West Bank or to release him, despite the serious deterioration in his health since August 2021, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki affirmed that the captive martyr Nasser Abu Hamid is not only a victim of the Israeli occupation, its oppression and persecution, but also a victim of the policy of international double standards.
In a statement today, reported by the Palestinian Wafa Agency, Al-Maliki called on the international community, the United Nations and its competent bodies to put real pressure on the occupation authorities to immediately release the body of the martyr, stressing that Palestine will continue its movement at all levels to mobilize the widest international pressure to secure the release of the body so that his family can bury him as appropriate to his sacrifices.
Palestine will continue to work to free the bodies of the rest of the martyrs detained by the occupation, he stressed.
Al-Maliki pointed out that the International Criminal Court will be handed over all information about the death of Nasser Abu Hamid as a result of the crime of willful medical negligence in the occupation detention centers and the Israeli authorities’ rejection of all international calls and appeals that called for his release, so that he can obtain the necessary treatments outside the prison. This rejection indicated Israel’s insistence on committing the crime that led to Abu Hamid’s death.
