OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, Jan.3, (ST)-Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki announced the formation of two legal teams, locally and internationally, to follow up on the decision of the United Nations General Assembly on adopting a Palestinian draft resolution that calls on the International Court of Justice to consider the issue of the Israeli occupation.
WAFA news agency quoted Al–Maliki as saying today that he United Nations legal department is preparing the file to be submitted to the International Court of Justice.
The minister affirmed that the State of Palestine will provide it with all necessary information to complete the file.
He described the General Assembly’s decision as “historic”, which will lead to revealing the reality of the occupation and ending its continuous deception of the world regarding its presence in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Three days ago, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry considered that the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of a draft Palestinian resolution regarding the Zionist entity’s violation of the right of Palestinian people to self-determination, settlement occupation and annexation is a Palestinian and international historical, diplomatic and legal achievement.
The Ministry stressed the importance of this resolution , which includes the Palestinian request from the International Justice Court for a legal opinion on the nature and form of this long-term illegal colonial occupation, the Palestinian WAFA news agency quoted the ministry as saying in a statement on Saturday.
The Foreign Ministry underlined that it is part of the legal strategy to confront the occupation, exposing and holding accountable all parties who work to encourage and support the survival of this illegal system on Palestine land, including occupied Jerusalem, and the realization of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
