The coordinator of the Arab and international popular campaign to break the siege imposed on Syria Majdi Al-Maasarawi affirmed that the campaign stands by Syria in the face of the unilateral coercive Western economic measures imposed on the country, pointing to the importance of pressuring the countries that imposed the blockade to lift their measures that violate the international humanitarian law and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Al-Maasarawi, the former Secretary-General of the Arab National Conference said in his appeal to personalities, conferences, federations, trade unions, human rights, legal, cultural, media, and humanitarian Arab and international institutions: “In continuation of the work and decisions of Arab and international forums to lift the siege imposed on Syria, the cradle of the Arabism, civilization and the ancient human heritage, we decided to launch an Arab popular campaign for two months that will be culminated in an international Arab forum against the siege, occupation and war on Syria, to be held on the 22nd of next month.
Al-Maasarawi added: We see it as our duty today to launch this campaign, so that the Syrian people realize that they are not alone in facing this major crime against humanity, and to form an international public opinion that contributes to pressuring the countries involved in the blockade, led by the US administration, as to lift these measures that violate international and humanitarian law as well as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The founding president of the Arab National Forum, Maan Bashour, called last month for the formation of committees at the Arab level, and for launching a global campaign to drop the Western blockade imposed on Syria, pointing out that a forum will be organized on the 22nd of next February, to show solidarity with Syria in the face of what it is exposed to of war, siege and occupation.
