Al-Lahham: We must mobilize all capabilities to defeat terrorism

DAMASCUS,(ST)_The People’s Assembly[Parliament] has marked the 44 anniversary of the Correction Movement that led by the late President Hafez al-Assad and established the state’s national bases, the official news agency (SANA) reported Sunday.

The agency quoted the PA Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham as saying: “Hordes of Colonialism and herds of Takfiri terrorists have gathered to liquidate correction movement’s values and its achievements at political, economic and social levels.”

But, he added, the great Syrian people and army and leadership confront the biggest terrorist war being waged on the homeland.

“Today, we must mobilize all capabilities to defeat terrorism and its supporters that seek to obliterate Arab identity, erase Arab national thinking and end national resistance,” al-Lahham said.

He underscored that Syria would triumph in the ongoing battle and it would never abandon resistance thinking that defend the Arab causes, including the Palestinian cause.

“Palestinian cause will remain central cause. And we will not allow the extremist, Takfiri thinking promoters and supporters to undermine our culture and thinking,” the Speaker concluded.

Al-Lahham’s remarks came during the PA session held today.

In the session, Awqaf Minister Mohammad Abdulsattar al-Sayyed briefed the MPs on measures adopted by the ministry to confront the Takfiri, Wahhabi thinking. “All measures adopted by the ministry can bear no fruit unless there is cooperation with intellectual, religious and social elites,” he stressed.

“War of terms”

“The conspiracy against Syria aims at transferring the alleged global Jihadist Movement to the Levant in order to damage the moderate Islam in Syria,” the minister added.

He indicated that the ministry issued books on the ‘Jurisprudence of crisis’ to retaliate for the terrorists’ terms that have nothing to do with Islam.
