Al-Lahham to Greek Delegation: European Countries Must Stop Providing Support for Terrorists in Syria
DAMASCUS, (ST)-Speaker of the People’s Assembly (PA) Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham has urged the European countries to change their policies and stop supporting terrorist organizations in Syria, stressing that this support is a blatant violation of international laws and conventions.
During his meeting in Damascus on Saturday with the member of the Greek Parliament and the Golden Dawn Party Ioannis Sachinidis and the accompanying delegation, al-Lahham “said Syria has repeatedly warned that the terrorism fed and backed in Syria and Iraq by well known regional countries will expand to neighboring countries and Europe.”
“The terrorists who carried out Brussels and Paris attacks were ideologically fed by Saudi Wahhabi organizations in the heart of Europe,” al-Lahham clarified.
The PA Speaker pointed out that the achievements, made by the Syrian Arab Army in the battle against terrorism in cooperation with Syria’s friends including Russia, Iran and the Lebanese resistance, “are a victory for all civil states and for human civilization over history and civilization killers.”
Turkey Responsible for Refugee Crisis
Al-Lahham Urged the parliamentarians of the European countries to pressure their governments as to adopt a decisive stance towards Turkey to stop exploiting the refugee crisis because of its being the main crossing road to terrorists into Syria and towards Europe.
“The Syrian state is committed to a political solution to the crisis innth country in parallel with its fight against terrorism, but the other side, which was made by Saudi Arabia, keeps hindering dialogue by putting unacceptable conditions, al-Lahham said, expressing Syria’s cooperation with all parties who “seriously seek eliminating terrorism which has become a plague threatening all”.
On his part, Sachinidis said the Greek delegation’s visit to Syria aimed at having true information about the reality of events in Syria and to convey this image to members of the Greek parliament and the Greek media.
“The Western media has greatly contributed to distorting facts about Syria to mislead the western public opinion,” the Greek official said, noting that he became sure about this yesterday during his visit to Old Damascus where he felt that people there are practicing normal life.
He stressed the need to precisely specify the parties, peoples and countries which are involved in supporting terrorism in Syria and pressure them as to stop funding and backing the terrorists.
He stressed the importance of drawing up a joint Syrian-Greek plan to confront terrorism threat and to enhance friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
