Al-Lahham: Civil dignitaries’ role in reconciliation is inseparable from army’s role in defending homeland

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] has underscored that national reconciliation is a ‘safe crossing’ to preserve the Syrian state’s sovereignty and independence and dignity of its people, according to the official news agency (SANA) .   

The agency quoted Mohammad Jehad al-Lahham as citing that the Parliament supports every sincere effort at social and civil levels that help overcome the crisis Syria is going through.

The speaker was speaking in a meeting with a number of social and religious dignitaries and national reconciliation committees from Rekneddin quarter, Wadi al-Mashare’a area and al-Kesweh town in and outside Damascus.   

He underlined the need for integration between civil and official efforts to alleviate the Syrian people’s suffering the ongoing crisis.

“The civil society figures’ role in national reconciliation is inseparable from the Syrian Arab army’s role in defending the homeland and confronting the Takfri terrorists and their supporters,” al-Lahham said.

He added that national reconciliations must have positive effect on citizens’ life through meeting their basic needs in the area to which stability and peace were restored.

“National reconciliation committee at the parliament in cooperation with the state Ministry of National Reconciliation affairs and national and social dignitaries as well as civil society figures seeks to consolidate the principle of national reconciliation,” al-Lahham declared.

Ousi: the year of national reconciliation

On his part, Head of the national reconciliation committee at the parliament Omar Ousi indicated that this year must be the year of reaching national reconciliations across the country.

The participants in today’s meeting stressed that the Syrian people will remain united in confronting the acts of terrorist organizations that pose threat to every one without exception.
