Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Al-Khulaifi announced that several issues related to Syria will be discussed during the upcoming visit of a Qatari delegation to the United States.
Al-Khalifi told AFP that they “will seek during their visit to Washington to raise the issue of the ongoing sanctions on Syria with a view to easing and removing them,” adding that they will “discuss with the American side and regional parties assistance in increasing public sector salaries in Syria, and the issue of Qatari financing for gas supplies to Syria.”
Al-Khalifi indicated that “there are serious steps in this regard, and they will discuss them closely with the Americans to determine how to proceed with this project, with regard to gas supplies to Syria and other means of support.”
The President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Mr. Ahmad al-Sharaa, visited the State of Qatar last Tuesday and met with its Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha, where an official session of talks was held between the two sides.
