NEW YORK, (ST)- Syria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari has called on the international organization to work as to put an end to the repeated attacks carried out by the so-called US-led “international coalition” on Syrian territories, oil and gas facilities and economic infrastructure, stressing that these acts of aggression destroy the Syrian people’s potentials and prolong the crisis in the country.
Addressing the UN Chief and President of the Security Council in two identical letters on Monday, al-Jaafari said the recent attacks by the “international coalition” targeted oil and gas fields in the Syrian provinces of Deir Ezzor, Raqqa and Hassaka and caused heavy material damage and complete destruction of some facilities.
“This [international coalition’s] aggression, in addition to the coercive unilateral economic measures imposed by some western countries on the Syrian people are responsible for the deteriorating situation in Syria,” said al-Jaafari.
“Syria preserves its internationally-recognized right to ask Washington-led coalition to pay compensations for the destruction of Syrian infrastructure,” he added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has stressed that the “international coalition’s” aggressive acts of destroying bridges and economic facilities in Syria confirms its policy which is based on shelling the Syrian infrastructure. The ministry pointed out that the only beneficiary from these attacks is the terrorist organizations mainly “Deash” and Jabhat al-Nusra.
