NEW YORK-The Israeli-Qatari collusion and cooperation with the fundamentalist terrorists, who have been wreaking havoc at the Forces Disintegration Zone in the occupied Golan, integrates and goes in line with the policies of these two parties against Syria’s stability and security and against the safety of the forces of the United Nations itself, Syria’s UN Permanent Representative Bashar al-Jaafari said.
Al-Jaafari, who was speaking at a UNSC session dedicated to discuss the situation in the Middle East, stressed that Israel has been for more than half a century ignoring all the UN resolutions relating to the Israeli occupation of Arab territories and has also been committing war crimes and atrocities against humanity.
He reiterated that the regimes in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and some Western countries insist on wrong dealing with the Syrian situation in a blatant violation of the UN charter, the rules of the international law and the principle of settling conflicts peacefully.
Al-Jaafari criticized the UN disability to implement hundreds of resolutions adopted against Israel to end the Israeli occupation of Arab lands and help restoring rights to their owners, stressing that some influential countries should give up their double standards policies towards just Arab issues.
Syria’s UN representative pointed out that the Israeli occupation forces provide assistance to armed terrorist groups in the forces disintegration zone in the occupied Syrian Golan through admitting the terrorists in Israeli hospitals, treating them and sending them back to continue their criminal acts. He stressed that this Israeli aid doesn’t only violate international laws, resolutions and agreements, but also endangers the lives of UNDOF forces and hinders their peacekeeping mission.
Al-Jaafari referred to the incident of kidnapping UN peacekeepers by terrorist groups and to the collusion of the Qatari intelligence body in the kidnapping of Philippine peacekeepers.
International Community Should Pressure Israel to Join the NPT
In his statement at the meeting of the first Committee of the UN General Assembly’s 68th Session , al-Jaafari stressed Syria’s support for the international tendency towards establishing an international community that is free of violence or threat of using force whether nuclear or traditional. He called on the international community to pressure Israel to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Al-Jaafari asserted that getting rid of nuclear weapons completely is the only guarantee for not using them or threatening of using them.
He pointed out that after more than four decades of the signing of Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), it is important that the nuclear countries comply with the sixth article of the Treaty seriously in order to spare the world this danger.
Al-Jaafari highlighted the need of forcing Israel to put all its nuclear facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) according to Security Council resolutions No. 487 for 1981 and IAEA resolution No. 17 for 2009.
The Syrian diplomat said that Israel is not a party in any treaties or agreements that control the issue of the proliferation of mass destruction weapons, including NPT.
