Al-Jaafari: Western states use Security Council to create justifications for external intervention and aggression in Syria in order to destabilize it
New York, (ST) – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari affirmed that, Western states in the Security Council tried through the council to repeat catastrophic scenarios in Syria that were applied to other countries under deceptive titles and terms and events proved the extent of their devastating impact.
“Syria has lived through decades of Security Council failures in dealing with issues that threaten international peace and security in our region and the world, especially those related to the Israeli occupation of Arab lands,” Al-Jaafari said during a session of the UN Security Council.
Al-Jaafari pointed out that Western states tried to employ the Security Council to antagonize the Syrian state and create justifications for external intervention and aggression with the aim of destabilizing its stability and security, undermining its cultural and development achievements.
Al-Jaafari indicated that, some countries have consistently promoted terrorism and covered up its crimes and obscured Syrian demands to form an international coalition under the umbrella of the United Nations to combat it.
He continued by saying that, one million Syrians from our people in Hasaka are suffering due to the Erdogan regime cutting off drinking water and using it as a weapon of war, while NATO countries are silent on Erdogan’s crimes and his theft of Syrian wealth.
Al-Jaafari added that the Western member states of the Security Council did not play any role to enable them to fulfill their ptasks that we were entrusted with to end the American, Turkish and Israeli occupation of Syrian lands.
Al-Jaafari said that, the Security Council had failed to lift unilateral coercive economic measures that deprive the Syrians of food, medicine, fuel, electricity, their simplest living needs and their basic medical supplies. He stressed that, the only thing that the delegations of Western countries have done is to inflame the crisis in Syria, complicate it, prolong it, and obstruct efforts aiming at settling it.
Al-Jaafari went on to say that , Syria renews its demand for the six permanent and non-permanent members of the Security Council to preserve the mandate of the Council and to stop attempts to undermine the United Nations as it undermined the League of Nations.
