Al-Jaafari: The Syrians are the party that gives legitimacy to national entitlements

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bashar Al-Jaafari on Saturday received  a delegation of Russian journalists, researchers and analysts, led by head of the Russian Institute of Oriental Studies Boris Dolgov.

Dr. Al-Jaafari stressed the importance of the participation of the Russian delegation alongside other media delegations from different parts of the world in covering the recently held presidential elections in Syria.

He made it clear that what happened in Syria during the past days has confirmed the Syrian government and people’s independent national political decision, and constituted a real call for putting an end to the western mentality under the western opportunistic discriminatory  globalization.

A-Jaafari said that the western countries don’t believe in democracy and for them, the only terms of reference for elections is the West’s terms of reference, standards and agenda.

He affirmed that the Syrian people are the only party that gives legitimacy to national entitlements not those who claim democracy while behave in an opposite way and they even occupy other countries territories and steal their national resources.

Al-Jaafari clarified that the unilateral coercive measures imposed in the Syria people and government are illegal and they are used by these countries as a means for political pressure.

On their part, members of the Russian delegation appreciated the democratic atmosphere in which the presidential elections in Syria were held and hailed the active participation of citizens in this process. They pointed out that this situation marks the beginning for developing real democracy that has failed in many western countries.
