Moscow (ST): Syria’s ambassador to Moscow Bashar al-Jaafari affirmed that the strong friendship between Syria and Russia has contributed to defeating international terrorism.
Al-Jaafari said, during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Syrian Embassy in Moscow to award orders and medals to a number of Russian and military veterans who served in Syria: “The friendship and brotherhood between Syria and Russia have been baptized by the blood of Syrian and Russian soldiers and officers that watered the Syrian soil in defense of the values of sovereignty and independence, and in confrontation of aggression and terrorism.”
Al-Jaafari indicated that the General Command of the Syrian Army and the Armed Forces decided to award these medals to Russian veterans in recognition of their efforts in carrying out joint tasks and their sincerity and dedication in performing their duty on Syrian soil.
For his part, Colonel Vladislav Paklechuk, who received the Medal for Strengthening Syrian-Russian Combat Friendship, referred to the preparations for the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the October Liberation War, noting that the Russian side is currently preparing to issue a book that talks about the course of that war and its championships.
