Al-Jaafari: The Kazan Economic Forum an important opportunity for Russia and the Islamic world to boost cooperation

The Syrian Ambassador to Russia Bashar Al-Jaafari has affirmed that the International Kazan Economic Forum of Russia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is a great opportunity for them to join efforts and resist Western politics.

Al-Jaafari said in a statement to Sputnik on the sidelines of the forum: “The Kazan Forum is an important window for Russia and the Islamic world to enhance cooperation on the basis of common goals and interests.”

Al-Jaafari added: “With regard to sanctions against Russia, it would be wrong to call such measures sanctions, because from the point of view of international law, they are illegitimate, unilateral and harsh economic measures.”

He continued: “All actions taken by Europe, the United States, and the West in general are of a political nature, and although they are economic, they contain political motives. The goal of the West is to put pressure on the Russian policy in order to achieve concessions that serve Western interests only, and this is a well-known fact, and this matter happened with Syria.”

Al-Jaafari stressed that this forum is a great opportunity to join efforts, oppose the Western policy and provide a new form of interaction, as there is no place for such Western sanctions.

Al-Jaafari pointed out that Syria’s participation in the forum is a form of cooperation and solidarity with Russia, given the fact that the two countries suffer from the same Western measures.
