Al-Jaafari: Syria will not abandon its right and duty to eliminate the last hotbeds of terrorism in Idlib

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar  Al-Jaafari, told reporters after a closed session of the Security Council that Syria will not abandon its right and duty to eliminate the last hotbeds of terrorism in Idlib..

Al-Jaafari said that some members of the Security Council have failed to combat terrorism and the European Union  states  are dealing irresponsibly with the file of foreign terrorists, pointing out that the European Union ignores the transfer of terrorists by Turkish regime  from Idlib to Libya to participate in the battles taking place there.

He added that the Turkish regime continues to evade its obligations in Sochi and Astana by supporting terrorist organizations in Idlib.

The senior Syrian diplomat  said: “It would have been better for those who called for a meeting of the Security Council to deal responsibly with the dangerous situation in Idlib and to cooperate with the Syrian state to eliminate terrorism there”.

Al-Jaafari stressed that the introduction of humanitarian aid to Syria must adhere to its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and there is no longer any justification for sending aid across the border.

He pointed out that some countries have called for holding this meeting of the Security Council while they are still occupying parts of the Syrian territories, imposing coercive economic measures on the Syrian people, supporting ISIS terrorists in Idlib and pillaging Syrian oil.
