Al-Jaafari Holds Countries Which Falsely Claimed Being Friends of the Syrian People Fully Responsible for Syrians’ Suffering
NEW YORK, (ST)- Syria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari held the governments of the countries which falsely claimed that they are friends of the Syrian people fully responsible for the Syrians’ suffering. He pointed out that the western coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people have worsened the humanitarian situation in Syria.
In a Security Council meeting on Monday, al-Jaafari said both the Syrian and Russian governments have denied targeting al-Qaterji neighborhood in Aleppo and urged looking for the criminal somewhere else.
He noted that the image of the Syrian child Omran Daqaneesh about whom member of the Security Council were talking “is like other Syrian children who suffer the repercussions of the crisis and the conspiracy hatched against the country.”
Al-Jaafari said that On April 30, 2014, the warplanes of the so-called US-led coalition destroyed a center for the dumb and deaf in Raqqa killing tens of children. On July 7, 2016, the coalition carried out airstrikes on the city of Manbej claiming the lives of hundreds of civilians, including children and women, he added.
The Syrian diplomat went on to say that on July 12, 2016, Washington-led coalition’s warplanes shelled al-Souseh village in Deir Ezzour killing 17 innocent civilians, including children and women. And, on 26th of same month, the French warplanes working within the US-led coalition also attacked Tokhan village in Aleppo countryside and killed more than 180 civilians, many of them were women and children.
Al-Jaafari clarified that the so-called “international coalition” didn’t get the permission of the Syrian government to carry out its activities in the Syrian airspace, pointing out that the Syrian government didn’t also invite this coalition to come to Syria and this means that the coalition’s activities constitute a fragrant violation of UN simplest principles.
On his part, Russia’s Permanent Representative at the Security Council Vitaly Churkin stressed that Russia will continue providing humanitarian assistance to the people affected by terrorism in Syria, pointing out that Moscow and Damascus have cooperated in building six humanitarian corridors in Aleppo to help civilians get out and to deliver humanitarian aid.
The Chinese envoy, on his part, called for coordinating anti-terrorism efforts and reiterated that political settlement is the only solution to the crisis in Syria.
