Al-Jaafari, head of Kazakh “Al-Farabi” Charitable Foundation discuss means of providing aid to quake-affected people in Syria

Syria’s ambassador to Russia, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari discussed on Thursday with Head of the Kazakh “Al-Farabi” Charitable Foundation Akmaral Batalova ways to send aid, provided by Kazakh’s leadership and people, to the earthquake-affected people in Syria.

During a meeting held at at the headquarters of the Syrian embassy in Moscow , Batalova made it clear that the Kazakh government responded immediately to the repercussions of the earthquake and sent, under direct directions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, 50 tons of aid including food, medicine, infant formula, blankets, clothes, and others.

She indicated that “Al-Farabi” Foundation opened five centers in five Kazakh cities to accept donations and aid, and managed to collect 100 tons of this aid, including traditional Kazakh tents.

Batalova added that it was agreed with the Russian Ministry of Defense to ship the aid to Syria from Kazakhstan directly during the coming days and will be accompanied by a delegation from the “Al-Farabi” Foundation.

For his part , Al-Jaafari highly appreciated the humanitarian initiatives launched by the government and the friendly Kazakh people, stressing that the Astana process talks has had a great and important role in the process of resolving the crisis in Syria.

Al-Jaafari praised the efforts of the journalist Batalova in conveying the reality of the situation in Syria to the Kazakh public opinion.

The meeting was attended by the delegation accompanying the journalist Batalova and the Minister Counselor at the Syrian Embassy, Dr. Alaeddin Hamdan.
