Al-Jaafari: Economic coercive measures imposed on Syria impede the purchase of medicines and humanitarian needs

New York, (ST) – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bashar al-Jaafari said during a Security Council session that, Resolution /1373 / did not contribute in enhancing international cooperation or combating terrorism, or drying up its sources of funding, or combating extremist ideology that promote for it.

He added that, the economic coercive measures imposed on Syria impede the purchase of medicines and humanitarian needs.

Al-Jaafari said that, Western countries have taken advantage of the issue of combating terrorism to destroy other countries. They try to eliminate their economic and cultural achievements, plunder their wealth, and stigmatize these countries on charges of supporting terrorism.

He continued that, US occupation forces continue the looting of Syria’s resources of oil and gas and agriculture crops.

Al-Jaafari added that, Politicization, double standard policy, and investment in terrorism have overshadowed the issue of combating terrorism, and the major beneficiaries are terrorist organizations and their leaders.
