Al-Jaafari discusses with the Indian Deputy Foreign Minister a number of issues of common concern

On October 2nd, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bashar Al-Jaafari met with the assistant of the Indian Foreign Minister Wasif Sayed and the accompanying delegation

Dr. Al-Jaafari stressed the depth of bilateral relations between Syria and India, and the need to strengthen them to serve the common interests of the two friendly peoples. 

He talked about the ancient civilized ties and the Syrian-Indian relations, and the distinguished political relations at the bilateral level between the two countries, and their standing by each other on many political and principled issues, in addition to their cooperation and coordination in international forums, to promote their issues, and preserve the rights of and interests of developing countries.

He pointed to the need to strengthen joint cooperation between the two countries at all levels, expressing his appreciation for India’s positions in support of Syria in its war against terrorism, and his gratitude for the assistance that India sent in the past period to face the repercussions of the terrorist war and the Covid-19 crisis. 

For his part, Wasif Sayed stressed his country’s solidarity with the Syrian people in facing the current challenges left by the terrorist war on Syria, and the negative repercussions caused by the Corona crisis. 

He described a number of issues expected to be implemented in the future between Syria and India, especially in the technical, health, cultural, scientific and technical fields

He pointed out that the Indian government provides grants to finance and implement projects of a humanitarian nature, including the supply of artificial limbs and equipment for people with disabilities. 

Today, the second camp for prosthetic limbs will be inaugurated by the Indian MahawirAssociation for Rehabilitation of the Disabled in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Department of Arab Affairs, Dr. Riyad Abbas, the Director of the Protocol Department, Ambassador Anfwan Al Na’eb the Deputy, the Director of the Afro-Asian Affairs Department, Dr. Ramiz Al-Ra’i, the Director of Media Warif AlHalabi, and the Chargé d’Affairs at the Indian Embassy in Damascus Satinder Kumar Yadav.
