Al-Jaafari discusses with the Director of the Russian Financial University ways to enhance scientific cooperation

Moscow (ST): The Syrian Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, discussed with the Director of the Financial University of the Russian government, Professor Stanislav Prokofiev, ways to enhance scientific and educational cooperation between Syria and the university.

Prokofiev pointed out during his meeting with al-Jaafari, who visited the university today, that Syria is not alone, and that the Russian people and the peoples of the world stand with it in facing the unjust Western sanctions and confronting the external aggression it is exposed to.

Prokofiev expressed his sincere condolences for the earthquake victims in Syria and sympathy for those affected, noting that the university also contributed to providing aid and donations to the Syrian people.

The Director of the Financial University said: Russia itself is also subject to Western sanctions and is making efforts to consolidate relations with Syria in all fields, especially the development of cooperation with Syrian institutes and universities.

Prokofiev pointed out that this university is considered one of the largest universities that bears the name of the Russian government, expressing readiness to increase the number of Syrian students studying there, and to exchange students and teachers and joint teaching with Syrian universities, announcing that the university will start adopting Arabic as a language for teaching as of the beginning of the next year.

In turn, Al-Jaafari expressed thanks and appreciation for the Russian solidarity with Syria and the university’s interest in the Syrian students studying there, stressing the Syrian side’s interest in establishing the broadest scientific and educational cooperation relations with this great university.

Al-Jaafari affirmed that the Syrian leadership, government and people stand by the side of friendly Russia in confronting the Western collective war waged by the United States and its followers against it.
