Al-Jaafari: Crisis in Syria Uncovered Saudi, Qatari Alliance with Zionist Entity

DAMASCUS- Syria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations Bashar al-Jaafari has stressed that Geneva-2 International Conference on Syria due to be held on January 22, 2014 is based on Geneva document which was issued in June last year and which provided for halting violence as a basis for diplomatic political solution to the crisis.

“The parties which continue to provoke violence in Syria aim at foiling Geneva-2 event,” al-Jaafari said.

Interviewed by NBN TV, al-Jaafari said that the incessant attempts by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and other countries to smuggle weapons and mercenaries into Syria are not consistent with these countries’ participation in a conference that sponsors dialogue among the Syrians. Therefore, they should stop supporting terrorism in Syria, he added.

“Those, who put preconditions for their participation in Geneva-2 don’t want this conference to be held. They want to destroy Syria and undermine the state,” al-Jaafari said, pointing out that the conference is a chance which all the Syrians should seize to save Syria.

He affirmed that the Syrian government is serious about the issue of dialogue, which must be pure Syrian and led by a Syrians themselves so as to build a better future for Syria away from any foreign interference or foreign agendas.

“Politically and militarily, we are in the last quarter of the crisis. After two years and a half, all have become sure that the strong and confident Syrian political and diplomatic stances are based on solid basis which enabled Syria to confront a matchless aggressive international campaign which is unprecedented in the political and diplomatic history of the world in terms of political, media and economic siege imposed to destroy the Syrian state, al-Jaafari said.

He added that the crisis in Syria revealed the truth of the Saudi-Israeli alliance as well as the Qatari-Israeli alliance which both have spared no effort to cause damage to Syria. It also uncovered the hypocrite European stance and proved the weakness of the Arab political system after the so-called Arab league has been turned into the Horse of Trojan to weaken and destroy the Arab states.

He talked about a systematic plan to weaken the Syrian, Egyptian and Iraqi armies so as no Arab country can play any important regional role, pointing out that the West have succeeded in linking Islamic orientations to foreign agendas.

He pointed out that Syria had sent 259 letters to the United Nations explaining the terrorist activities of al-Qaeda and its affiliated groups in Syria, but didn’t get a single response.
