Al-Jaafari chairs meeting of National Committee on International Humanitarian Law

DAMASCUS, Feb.22, (ST)-The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the Head of the Syrian National Committee on International Humanitarian Law, Bashar Al-Jaafari has asserted the importance of fully implementing the executive plan for the year 2022 approved by the committee in order to ensure the achievement of the desired results, especially within the framework of the important role entrusted to the committee in supporting the government’s efforts aiming to introduce the international humanitarian law in Syria.
 
Al-Jaafari’s remarks came during the meeting of the committee he chaired on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Damascus in the presence of head and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Syria as an observer. 
 
He affirmed the need to submit proposals in accordance with the laws and regulations with the aim of connecting the national legislation with the relevant conventions ratified by Syria and to highlight its civilized image that respects international law and the international humanitarian law.
 
The executive plan which was adopted by the committee included holding a number of activities and enhancing participation in international meetings, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). 
 
The agency added that the meeting discussed the activities of the national committees in 2021 and 2022 including Syria’s participation in international conferences.
