Al-Jaafari: Army’s Victories a Strong Political Support for SAR’s Delegation to Intra-Syrian Dialogue in Geneva
DAMASCUS, (ST)-The Syrian Arab Army’s victories have been a strong and direct political and diplomatic incentive for the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) to the Intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva, the delegation’s head Bashar al-Jaafari said yesterday.
In a statement to the Syrian TV last night, al-Jaafari said ” we predicted Palmyra victory a day before we returned home from Geneva and I told this to some Western personalities I have met…our anticipation about events were proved to be right .”
The delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic has been keen on making the intra-Syrian dialogue in Geneva a success in order to preserve Syria, al-Jaafari said, clarifying that the delegation made initiatives and took necessary steps to create a common ground with the oppositions, but the other side was embarrassed and not ready.
The delegation has shown a high sense of discipline unlike other delegations called by de Mistura as “consultants and experts”, according to al-Jaafari.
He clarified that procrastination and disruption came from the oppositions which took 8 days to respond to the Syrian Arab Republic paper.
Al-Jaafari referred to the meetings that were being held between the ambassadors of some Western countries and the “Riyadh opposition” delegation everyday during Geneva talks.
